Guaranteed Savings Plans: Know the Real Return

These plans promise a fixed amount at maturity along with life cover. The total maturity amount often looks large, but what matters is the yearly return over your full holding period. We work it out from the benefit illustration and compare plans across insurers.

Frequently asked questions

Is the maturity amount really guaranteed?

In non-participating guaranteed plans, the benefits stated as guaranteed are fixed, provided all premiums are paid. Any bonus or non-guaranteed part can vary.

Is the maturity amount tax-free?

It depends on the premium, the policy issue date and current tax rules. For example, for non-ULIP policies issued on or after 1 April 2023, maturity can be taxable if the total yearly premium is above ₹5 lakh. We check this for your case.
